PARENT EDUCATION

It Is Never Too Early. It Is Never Too Late.

Understand Your Child. Learn How to Guide Their Development.

Every parent wants their child to learn, grow, connect, develop confidence and become as capable and independent as possible.

Your child may be two, five, ten, fourteen, twenty, thirty, forty or fifty years old. You may be at the very beginning of your journey, or you may have been searching for answers and support for many years.

It is never too early to understand your child better, and it is never too late to create new opportunities for learning and development.

Perhaps your child has autism, ADHD, developmental or learning differences, anxiety, self-regulation difficulties or multiple diagnoses. Perhaps there is no diagnosis, but you know that something is getting in the way.

Your child may struggle with connection, communication, attention, behaviour, emotions, relationships, social skills, flexible thinking, problem-solving or independence. They may also struggle academically at school or at home with reading, writing, mathematics, comprehension, organisation, homework or learning independently.

Or perhaps you simply feel:

“I know my child is capable of more,

but I don’t know how to help them move forward.”

That is where Parent Education begins.

Why Parent Education?

Your child doesn’t only learn in therapy, at school or in a professional’s office.

Your child is learning through life — every day.

During conversations, meals, homework, play, shopping, travelling, making mistakes, solving problems, coping with disappointment, trying something new and simply spending time with you.

Parents and caregivers are some of the most important and influential people in a child’s development. You have something no professional can replace: thousands of everyday opportunities for learning and growth.

But when a child learns or develops differently, knowing how to use those opportunities isn’t always intuitive.

My role is not to turn you into your child’s therapist.

My role is to educate you so that you understand your child more deeply and become a knowledgeable, confident and capable guide for their development.

Stop guessing.
Start understanding,

Parents are often told to work on behaviour, communication, social skills, attention,

academics, self-regulation or independence.

All of these areas may be important. But before deciding what to work on, we need to ask:

Why is this difficult for my child?

What is happening underneath the behaviour or struggle we can see?

How does your child learn from experience? How do they respond to uncertainty? What happens when something becomes difficult or unexpected? Can they think flexibly, solve problems, make decisions and recover from mistakes? Do they depend on others to tell them what to do next?

When we begin to understand why something is difficult, we can make much better decisions about what your child needs next.

My Appproach

My Parent Education Programmes are informed by Relationship Development Intervention® (RDI®)developmental science and neurobiology, including an understanding of how the brain and nervous system develop, regulate and support learning.

I do not look only at a diagnosis, a behaviour or an isolated difficulty. I look at the child as a whole person — their developmental profile, how they relate to others, how they process and respond to experiences, how they regulate, how they learn and how they participate within everyday relationships and environments.

A central part of my work is the parent-child relationship. Children develop through relationships, and parents have countless opportunities in everyday life to guide attention, communication, thinking, problem-solving, self-regulation, learning and independence.

The focus is not simply on teaching a child to perform a skill or changing behaviour on the surface. We look at the developmental abilities underneath and ask what your child may need in order to learn, adapt and participate more successfully.

Most importantly, I teach you not only what to do, but why you are doing it.

When you understand your child’s development, how learning happens and the importance of the guiding relationship, you can make more thoughtful decisions and create meaningful opportunities for growth in everyday life.

Supporting Learning, Development and Independence

Every child has a different developmental profile, so the focus of our work depends on what your child needs most.

We may work on connection and communication, attention and self-regulation skills, behaviour and emotional development, social skills and social understanding, flexible thinking and problem-solving, academic learning, confidence, competence and independence.

If your child is struggling academically, we look not only at what they are learning, but how they learn — including their ability to pay attention, understand, regulate themselves, think flexibly, solve problems and work more independently.

When behaviour is challenging, we look beyond the behaviour itself to understand what may be happening underneath and what your child still needs to learn or develop.

Throughout our work, we create everyday opportunities for your child to think, communicate, participate, regulate, interact with others, solve problems and learn from experience — gradually becoming more confident, competent and independent.

The goal is not simply to teach more skills. It is to help your child become a more capable, confident and active participant in their own life.

Parent Stories

Who is Parent Education for?

Parent Education is for families at many different ages and stages.

I work with parents and caregivers of young children, school-aged children, teenagers and adults, with or without a formal diagnosis.

You may be looking for support with communication, self-regulation, behaviour, social skills, learning and academics, confidence, relationships, problem-solving or independence. Or perhaps you simply feel that something is getting in the way and you are unsure what your child needs next.

Every child and every family is different.

We begin with your child, where they are today, and what matters most to your family.

Two ways to work with me

One-to-One Parent Education

For parents who want highly individualised education and guidance, I offer One-to-One Parent Education.

We begin by understanding your child, your family and the challenges you are currently experiencing. Together, we identify developmental priorities and create a clear direction for your work.

Each educational module is purposeful and tailored to your individual needs. You will understand what to work on, why it matters and how to apply what you are learning in everyday life.

One-to-One Parent Education is available online worldwide, with in-person sessions available where appropriate.

Six-Month Small Group Parent Education Programme

A structured Six-Month Online Parent Education Programme for parents who want to understand their child more deeply, feel more confident in their parenting and know how to support their child’s development in everyday life.

Over six months, I guide you through key areas of development, including the parent-child guiding relationship, brain and nervous system development, self-regulation, communication, thinking, learning, social development, confidence, competence and independence.

Many parents come to the programme feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice, worried about their child’s future and unsure whether they are doing the right thing.

Through education, practical application and support, I help you move from confusion to clarity, from fear to confidence, and from uncertainty to a greater sense of safety and trust in yourself as a parent.

You will learn to understand what may be underneath your child’s challenges and how to turn everyday interactions into meaningful opportunities for learning, connection and development.

Groups are intentionally kept small, allowing space for questions, personal guidance and shared learning. The programme is delivered online and available to parents worldwide.

Why work with me?

Because you don’t need another list of things you should be doing. You need to understand your child, their development and why certain things are difficult for them.

My role is to give you the knowledge and confidence to recognise what your child needs and create meaningful opportunities for learning and development in everyday life.

You will learn when to support and when to wait, when to simplify and when to introduce a little more challenge, when to step in — and when to step back so your child has the opportunity to think, try, problem-solve and discover what they can do.

My goal is not to make you dependent on me. My goal is to educate you and build your confidence in your own ability to guide your child.

So that, over time, you become increasingly confident in answering one of the most important questions:

“What does my child need from me right now to learn, develop and move forward?”

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need a diagnosis?
No. A formal diagnosis is not required. I work with families with a wide range of diagnoses, as well as parents who simply feel that their child is struggling with development, learning, self-regulation, relationships, academics or independence.
I work with parents and caregivers of young children, school-aged children, teenagers and adults. Your child may be two or fifty. The priorities naturally change with age and developmental stage, but opportunities for learning and development can continue throughout life. It is never too early, and it is never too late.
No. Although my work is informed by RDI®, Parent Education can support families experiencing a range of developmental, learning, self-regulation and relationship challenges, with or without a formal diagnosis.
Yes. We can look at academic learning alongside the developmental abilities that support it, including attention, self-regulation, comprehension, flexible thinking, problem-solving, resilience and independence. The aim is not only to help your child complete academic work, but to support them in becoming a more capable and independent learner.
Yes. Rather than focusing only on stopping a behaviour, we look at what may be happening underneath it and what your child may still need to learn or develop. This allows you to respond with greater understanding while working towards longer-term development.
Parent Education is not dependent on how much spoken language your child uses. We begin with your child’s individual communication, understanding, participation and developmental needs and work from where they are today.
No. This is education for parents and caregivers. My role is to educate and guide you so that you better understand your child’s development and learn how to use your relationship and everyday experiences to create opportunities for learning and growth.
Yes. I work with families internationally. One-to-One Parent Education and the Six-Month Small Group Parent Education Programme are available online. In-person sessions may also be available where appropriate.
If you want highly individualised education focused specifically on your child and family, One-to-One Parent Education may be the best option. If you would like a structured six-month educational journey while learning alongside a small group of parents, the Six-Month Small Group Parent Education Programme may be right for you. If you are unsure, email me and we can discuss which option may best suit your family.

What parents say?
